Although we have been drenched with unseasonal rain, cold and mist over the past few days, we can always remember last week!

The terrasse at Maison Olive all spruced up for the soiree.

Madame has trumped the charts with this pic – worthy of National Geographic. The Luberon is justly proud of its homey – no wonder when the bees feast on blossoms like these.

Erica speeds up the climb

The Citadel from midway on the walk up

The Guard Room

We have not had one of these for a long time. This is between Menerbes and Lacoste.

A variation to a River runs through it – a river runs round it

up at the top there is a little picnic spot which sadly we could not use as we ran out of time. At least you get to carry the food and drink load back in your stomach than in a back pack!

During the First World War the jail was used for German officers – looking at them now, there was no place for the Geneva Convetion

Atmosphere. Would not like to be there at night!

Blossoms, blossoms

We promised more pictures – here they come:

Part of the strenuous walk up to the Citadel

Right up at the top – and naturally le tricolor!

Looking out from the ramparts with the river far, far, below

One of the now ruined rooms in the Citadel

Looking down on some buildings at Entrevaux outside of the village walls in High Provence

The Durance river near Entrevaux

We have been entranced this year with hte prevalence of white flowers attached to a nondescript green bush which we have in abundance but have never made much of a point of stopping and admiring.

The common and garden Oliander has a rather exotic French name – laurier rose (Bay Rose) and this shrub is no exception – laurier thym (Bay Thyme). Family of the Bay tree.

Pretty

Interestingly, I cannot find any reference to Bay Thyme in Google or other references – maybe it is a slang French name? Surely one of you 10,000 LSW readers can help?
