The world mourns the greatest cricket writer of his generation. He went where others dared not to – long may he be remembered.

Sometimes it’s a good thing to break with normal transmission and ponder some of lfe’s truths:

[Thanks, darling]

Real pic – thanks to John W.

A lone dolphin circles our boat

The Chesapeake Bay bridge and tunnels - 24 miles long in both directions, linking Cape Charles with Norfolk in Virginia, USA

Ulu-Lapa is amongst some serious luminaries in the game viewing stakes

John, Alan and Ron.Good bush tip - John is wearing welding glasses - superb for game viewing at dusk as they lighten the view.

The Sand River awaits the rainy season

The stark beauty of the bushveld

The sausage tree

Returning from Ulu-Lapa we stopped at a gas station near to Middelberg for a comfort break and some refreshment. Entering the parking area we spotted this taxi with its trailer piled to the sky – heading for Maputo we were told. Unfortunately after the passengers had refuelled, the taxi driver decided to take the wrong exit : problem! Too high and the substantial pile of plasticware on top fo the load slipped backwards and prevented the taxi from getting back on to the highway!

Much discussions, head scratching and repeated attempts to drive under the barrier saw the taxi eventually reverse out through the IN lane and on to the freeway.

Only in Africa, I’m afraid.

Here he comes, into the parking lot

No entry

The driver's assistant tries manfully to unjam the problem

Now the driver is out of the vehicle to examine the chaos he has caused

A rather fun sequence shot on motor drive catching a lioness having a HUGE yawn!
